About the Cutty Sark

Commissioned by shipping tycoon Jock ‘Whitehat’ Willis, Cutty Sark was built in a Scottish shipyard before being launched in 1869 at Dumbarton. Originally created to transport tea from China to Britain, she went on to become one of the fastest tea clippers in the world, sailing for almost 100 years and venturing as far as Australia.
