Set in Russia during the turbulent 1905 Revolution, Fiddler on the Roof focuses on Tevye, a hard-working Jewish man attempting to raise his five daughters with traditional Jewish customs and values. Yet he finds the winds of change overwhelming him as his eldest daughter, Tzeitel, unconventionally chooses to marry for love instead of accepting the matchmaker’s choice of the town’s wealthy butcher. What follows is a poignant celebration of life and love, where old traditions and young love are juxtaposed to create one of the most beloved musicals of all time.
