Duxford - Battle of Britain Air Show

It’s almost 78 years since Douglas Bader and the first Spitfire squadrons flew out of RAF Duxford to take on the might of the Luftwaffe, and to mark this century-defining event we visit Duxford for the annual air show featuring some of the most iconic aircraft of the 1940s. Dozens of lovingly restored and maintained historic aircraft take to the skies in a spectacular homage to the fliers of the day, and you can also visit the Operations Room from where the aerial campaign was directed, tour the restoration hangar where engineers prepare classic aircraft for flight, and see the Battle of Britain hangar with, among other craft, an original Messerschmitt Bf 109. With over 200 planes, tanks and boats, the museum is a fascinating journey through British military history.
