Saturday: From a pick-up in your local area we travel to Leeds where there’s free time to explore at leisure. The Victoria Quarter shopping centre is worth a visit, but you might also enjoy the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds City Museum, and Leeds Art Gallery – ‘probably the best collection of 20th-century British art outside London’, all free entry.
In the afternoon, we visit the ITV studios in Leeds for the Emmerdale Studio Experience. This 75-minute guided tour includes full-scale set interiors, props, costumes, production secrets and special effects tricks. There's a ¼ size replica model of the village too, plus a café serving hot and cold food and drinks, and you also have the chance of a photo-opportunity behind the bar of The Woolpack. We rejoin the coach after our Studio visit and continue on to our hotel in good time for dinner.
Sunday: After breakfast we travel by coach to Harrogate, where we have free time. Chic, upmarket, called by some the ‘Kensington of the North’, Harrogate has a cosmopolitan café culture, designer boutiques, Georgian water gardens, tree-lined boulevards, Victorian mansions and tranquil parks and gardens.
We continue on to Emmerdale Village, set among the scenic landscapes of the Harewood Estate. Here we enjoy a 90-minute guided walking tour of the village taking in familiar haunts such as The Woolpack, the village church and Bob's Café. Filming continues through the week at Harewood but for a few very special weekends the site is vacated by the cast and crew in order to allow us the chance to visit. We do advise appropriate footwear and clothing as it is an outdoor tour and seating areas are limited. After our Village visit we rejoin the coach and head for home.
